Pan-Seared New York Strip Steak

Ingredients

  • 1 lb New York Strip Steak, thin cut
  • Salt, to taste
  • Black pepper, to taste
  • 1 tbsp olive oil
  • 2 cloves garlic, crushed
  • 2 sprigs fresh thyme
  • 1 tbsp butter

Instructions

  1. Remove the steak from the refrigerator and let it sit at room temperature for about 15 minutes.
  2. Season both sides of the steak generously with salt and black pepper.
  3. Heat a skillet over medium-high heat and add olive oil.
  4. Once the oil is hot, add the steak to the skillet.
  5. Sear the steak for about 2 minutes on one side until a crust forms.
  6. Flip the steak and add crushed garlic and thyme to the pan.
  7. Add butter to the pan and baste the steak by spooning the melted butter over it. Cook for another 2 minutes for medium-rare, adjusting time as needed for desired doneness.
  8. Remove the steak from the skillet and let it rest for 5 minutes before slicing.
  9. Serve with the pan juices drizzled on top.
